Wine, the application that allows us to run Windows applications on Mac, is updated with many new features

Despite the fact that in recent years in the Mac App Store we can find practically any application that offers us the same functions as in Windows, if we talk about very specific applications, it is likely that they are only available for Windows. Apple through Boot Camp and third-party applications allows us to install Windows and the specific applications we need. But we have another option, the option of power install an application that allows us to directly run Windows applications on a Mac. Wine offers us a solution that may be more to the liking of many users who are forced to install Windows to be able to use just one application.

With this new update, Wine is able to run 64-bit applications designed for Windows on macOS. In the details of the version we can also see this new update also offers us support for the retina screen of the Mac. Wine offers support for many applications and games which are not currently available to the OS X ecosystem.

This second version arrives 9 years after the release of version 1.0, although the developers have been regularly updating this application adding and improving its operation, but in a very sporadic way. Despite the fact that up to more than 6.600 improvements have been added to the release notes, some of them are not yet available, according to the developers they will be soon, you just have to be patient.

The source code is available for download through the following link, where can we find the installation packages for macOS and other operating systems for free since it is open source. But if we want to make use of Wine directly through an application, if we are going to have to go through the box, using the CrossOver application.
