In the table that I have left heading the entry you can see that there is a noticeable difference between SSD and HDD performance. It is true that on certain Macs it is difficult to install it, but I encourage you to try it because at least it has been great for me on my Mac, although it was possible thanks to Optibay and its products to remove the DVD and add a hard drive.
