Xcode-6.1.1-gold-master-server-developers-0

Last September 13 was the day selected by the Cupertino-based company to launch the final version of iOS 10, version that is currently already on almost 15% of supported devices. But on September 13, Apple also took the opportunity to launch a new update to Xcode and Swift 3, adapting them to the new version of the operating system for iOS 10 mobile devices and tablets.

But not only for iOS but also for the operating system for Apple TV, tvOS 10, watchOS 3 and obviously macOS Sierra. Xcode is the best option for anyone who wants to get started in Apple's programming environment, since with it we can create the graphical interface, create code and debug it, as well as being able to perform the different tests until the application works correctly.

xcode-8

With this new update Xcode reaches version 8 with the following news:

  • The editor is capable of generating documents and highlighting the line of work in which we are in addition to offering support for images in .swift format
  • The font used has been changed to San Francisco Mono and a new dark theme has been added.
  • The errors that we find when we debug the application are easier to find.
  • The debugger shows us the relationships between the different objects we are working with.
  • With the code editor we can modify the capabilities of the extensions.
  • Support has been added for creating different extensions for the messaging application in the latest version of iOS.
  • We can add extensions to work with Siri, iMessage and the new stickers of the Messages application.

What's new in the update related to Swift

  • The APIs for all components have been unified including the frameworks within the development kit.
  • Support for Playgrounds, the new application that Apple has launched Apple only for the iPad and that any user can learn to program.
