Yahoo! launches iPhone application that automatically summarizes texts

No more doing an old-fashioned summary. Yahoo! has included the recently acquired Summly, which performs automatic summaries, in its mobile application.

Summly lets you quickly browse and share news with some very intuitive gestures. The user will be able to select their favorite topics to show more news about them and less about other topics in which they are not so interested.
The operation is simple, uses natural language algorithms and machine learning.

"We acquired Summly less than a month ago, and we are excited to introduce this revolutionary technology into our first mobile app," Yahoo! CEO Marissa Meyer said in a statement.

The creator of this application is Nick D´Aloisio, 17 years old. It occurred to him while preparing for a history exam two years earlier. In 2011 he hung up his application Timit, the forerunner of Summly, that allowed to reduce the content of web articles to summaries capable of taking the form of a tweet (140 characters). It received thousands of downloads and last March Yahoo! I buy it.
The young man stated: "I will work on integrating Summly technology in different areas that we think are appropriate for Yahoo !, and more generally, I will help them with the design of their mobile products."

It is only available for the United States, so we will keep you informed for its departure in Spain and Latin America.
