In recent months the competition in browsers seemed to have diminished. A few hours ago we learned about the presentation of Edge for macOS, which will drive the use of Microsoft's browser, especially by users who must share our hours in front of the screen between Windows and Mac.
One of the browsers that doesn't quite surprise us is Firefox. It is not the fastest, nor the one with the most functions, but it is one of the main browsers among users who use several browsers on their Mac, thanks to its versatility and good performance.
In any case, since last May 3, many users complained about not being able to use the extensions from Firefox. This date coincides with 66.0.4 update, which has turned out to be the culprit. There was an error with the certificate that prevented enabling the extensions downloaded from the web. These extensions are one of the favorite options for Firefox users.
The fox navigator team tells us that they have largely solved the problem caused at the beginning of last weekend. If you are a user with this problem, Mozilla recommends you force version recovery, until a definitive update. For it:
- You must access the Menu bar with the browser open.
- Click on Firefox.
- Now click on «About Firefox»
- If you have the option 66.0.4 you have located the problem.
- Now you just have to reinstall the extensions which had initially disappeared.
Extension settings should not have been lost, as they are saved in local folders on our Mac. Therefore, when installing the extensions, their settings should appear again.
