Apple seizes the rights to CODA

Apple has announced in a press release, the release date of the next original film that will come to its streaming video service. I'm talking about CODA, a film that was presented at the last Sundance festival and that won 4 awards. The premiere of the film It is announced for August 13.

The film CODA stars Emilia Jones, Eugenio Derbez, Troy Kotsur, Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Daniel Durant, Amy Forsyth, Kevin Chapman and the Oscar winner Marlee Matlin, who will be the presenter at the next 93rd Oscars ceremony, on Sunday, April 25.

This Oscar-nominated film is produced by Vendome Pictures and Pathé, with Philippe Rousselet, Fabrice Gianfermi, Patrick Wachsberger and Jérôme Seydoux and Ardavan Safaee and Sarah Borch-Jacobsen serving as executive producers.

The film tells the story of Ruby (Emilia Jones), a 17-year-old girl, uonly hearing member of a deaf family (CODA stands for Children of Deaf Adults). Her life revolves around interpreting for her parents (Marlee Matlin, Troy Kotsur) and working on the struggling family fishing boat every day before going to school with her father and older brother. But when Ruby joins her high school choir club, she discovers a gift for singing and is soon drawn to her duet partner Miles (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo). Encouraged by his enthusiastic and tough choir director (Eugenio Derbez), he invites her to apply to a prestigious music school, but Ruby finds herself torn between the obligations she feels towards her family and the pursuit of her own dreams.

Apple got the rights to this movie at the end of January, surpassing all previous festival records by paying a record amount located at 25 million.
