La virtual reality it's on everyone's mind, at least in the tech industry, and big companies are going crazy to get on what may be the great future tech hit. According to a new report de 'FT' , and citing people familiar with the matter, Apple has been building a secret team to reactivate its efforts in virtual reality, with the aim of competing with the Oculus Rift of Facebook, and HoloLens from Microsoft. According to rumors, the Apple team is working both on virtual reality, as in augmented reality.
The team itself is made up of different people who have been involved with reality in one way or another, either from the companies that Apple has acquired directly, or from people who have been hired from competing companies, including Microsoft y Lytro. This news is also in line with the hiring of Doug Bowman, a leading researcher in virtual reality.
VR (virtual reality) is very cool and has some interesting applications, Tim Cook.
The report notes that while Apple has had a passion for virtual reality in the past, even dating back to 2000, the technology back then was simply too weak to make any headway, so the company abandoned that idea. However, with Facebook's acquisition of Oculus in 2014, Apple's unit for VR has taken a big step and moved. In fact, the company has made acquisitions in the past that could boost its VR efforts, including the acquisition of PrimeSense, a company that focuses on real-time motion capture.
As you can see, Apple seems that it is secretly doing its research, but that soon results are seen, and without Apple having confirmed it, it will mean that for a few years we will not see anything of 'Apple Virtual Reality'.
