Apple expects big sales of the MacBook Pro in 2017

On October 28, during Apple's "hello again" event, the Cupertino company unveiled the new generation of its most professional line of laptops, the new MacBook Pro that, with a new slimmer and lighter design , a new keyboard, Touch Bar and Touch ID, among other features, it seems that they could have dazzled users.

The new MacBook Pros are not on sale yet. Well, at least not the models that make up the Touch Bar, but they can already be purchased with an estimated shipping time in Spain of around four or five weeks. These presales would be serving Apple to verify the success of the new equipment but also, also to predict "strong shipments" that will remain at this level next year 2017.

Apple advises vendors that MacBook Pro 'heavy shipments' expected

As reported by the online publication DigiTimes, which we must always take with caution given its history of mistakes, Apple reportedly told manufacturers of parts and components for its new MacBook Pro line that it expects the "heavy shipments" to last until at least the end of 2016. This information comes from "sources in the supply chain".

According to the information provided by these sources, Apple maintains a very optimistic attitude about the sales of its new notebooks in relation to the fourth quarter of 2016 but also, expects shipments of new MacBook Pro models to remain at the same level during 2017. If finally the success of the new MacBook Pro is as expected by Apple and sales remain high, also the income and profits from these sales will suffer an increase during the next year. Without a doubt, this would be very good news for the company after three consecutive quarters of 2016 in which its sales and profits have been reduced in all segments, with the sole exception of services (iCloud, Apple Care, Apple Music , Apple Pay, etc.).

Apple's optimism was in crescendo

These same 'supply chain sources' have pointed out that Apple did not initially appear to be overly optimistic about sales of the MacBook Pro while his first orders were not initially very aggressive.

Apple's attitude to sales of its new professional laptop would have changed once the new models were unveiled in late October and Some market analysts began to put MacBook Pro sales even at 15 million units before the end of 2016, maintaining this level of shipments in 2017.

Supplier delays and changes

Moreover, MacBook shipments would also have suffered a delay compared to the initially planned schedule. The reason seems to be in the low performance rates of some components such as the hinges, battery and keyboard.

And furthermore, the Economic Daily News notes that the Taiwanese firm Wistron has also begun to receive orders from Apple for the manufacture of the Touch Bar that integrates the higher-end MacBook Pro models. Apparently, its construction is somewhat complicated and the original supplier, based in Singapore, was having some difficulties in meeting the high demand of the Cupertino company, which is why Apple would have decided to transfer at least a certain number of orders to Wistron.

As we have already pointed out, the delay in the launch of the new MacBook Pro computers has been due in part to the poor performance of the keyboards and other components however, as these rates improve, so too shipments are experiencing an increase in such a way that this period of four or five weeks mentioned above could be reduced in the near future.

And you, are you waiting for your new MacBook Pro?
