Apple records better numbers in a declining PC market

Apple sales

If at the beginning of this week we talked about where the surveys placed the new Apple laptops, taking into account a multitude of characteristics and facilities for the user, Today we come to talk about the real results of sales in the computer market in the first quarter of 2017.

And it is that despite the decaying computer market that exists today (in general negative results for all brands, with a clear decrease in their purchase and use due to the proliferation of increasingly large and functional tablets and phones), Apple manages to get a positive sales statistic, even increasing their numbers compared to last year on these same dates.

Apple posted a 4.5% increase in sales during the first three months of this year. However, the general computer market slumped again. Therefore, Apple consolidates a 5th place with 4.2 million units sold, assuming a 6.8% market share. This is data that improves the statistics of the previous 5 years.

As usual, Lenovo (19.9% market share) is consolidated as the best-selling computer brand with 12.4 million units, in turn improving by 1.2% its record from last year. Follows closely HP (19.5% market share) with 12 million units.

However, the Overall computer sales worldwide fell 2.4% again, continuing the negative trend that has lasted for more than 5 years. According to many analysts, PC manufacturers will have to adapt to these negative dynamics if they want PC demand not to disappear permanently in a few years.

“The top three vendors - Lenovo, HP and Dell - will fight for the large enterprise segment. The market has extremely limited opportunities below these three, with the exception of Apple, which has a strong customer base in certain specific markets. "

This small resurgence in laptop and desktop sales began in late 2016, although it is still too early to know if it is a trend that will improve little by little the numbers, or if on the contrary, it is just a "break" of the market before the inevitable.
