We have been a couple of weeks cool updates. After the solution to the security problem in SSL connections soon landed OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 and, last Monday, it finally reached our mobile devices iOS 7.1 , which was accompanied by the 6.1 update for Apple TV that, however, went somewhat unnoticed.

One of the main novelties presented by this new update 6.1 of the Apple TV is the possibility of move and hide icons.

This novelty included in the version 6.1 not only allows us to order the icons of applications and channels of the Apple TV at our whim if not also, it gives us the power to hide those that we do not use or that we simply want to be shown on the main screen.
The mechanism to customize the main screen of our Apple TV It is really simple, how could it be otherwise for those from Cupertino. We place ourselves on the icon that we want to move, we press the selection button on the control of our Apple TV and, when it begins to tremble "with fear", with the direction buttons of the remote we move it to the desired place, at which point we press the selection button again and that's it!
If what we want is to hide an icon that we do not use, we follow the same process and when it is selected and 'shaking', with the Play / Pause button we will access the options for that icon. So we will leave the screen of our Apple TV clear and to our liking, only with what we use and want to have.
Improved AirPlay function.
The icon "movement" is not the only novelty. The 6.1 update of the Apple TV bring a improved AirPlay function, for when we choose to use the device to view content from our Mac, iPhone, iPad o iPod Touch, adding the code security option, which will appear only the first time on the screen, but requires the use of OS X 10.9.2 and iOS 7.1 in case of each device.
The service has also been improved for networks that had the Bonjour protocol locked, which will use Bluetooth to find devices, even if they are on a different subnet.
If you want to install this update and you do not have the automatic update option selected in your Apple TV, you just have to go to Settings → General → Software Update.
Remote app update
And all of the above is accompanied by the update of this ideal app to use our Apple TV and / or control our library of iTunes: Remote for iOS.
Remote, which with this update reaches version 4.2, now allows you to see the programs, movies and series that we have previously acquired from our account iTunes; by pressing on them they will be played directly on the TV through the Apple TV.
And another novelty is that the application Remote includes the ability to create and play radio stations iTunes Radio, although only if the service is available in your country or if you already have the trick of having created an account in iTunes US.
