As the days go by we learn new details of what would be the latest update of OS X El Capitan, the version 10.11.2. These are small details that go unnoticed by the common user but that application developers detect very quickly.

In this article we are going to talk about something that you may have never heard of and that is that OS X makes use of databases that tell the system what applications we have installed at all times. The point is that the receipts databases have been removed in the 10.11.2 update.

When a system is updated, the improvements it brings with it are sometimes palpable by the most common of mortals, but in others only application developers are the ones who can realize it. In this case it seems that those from Cupertino have eliminated the directory that is located on the system in the following path: en  /var/db/receipts . This directory is responsible for keeping a record of all the software that is installed on a Mac at any given time.

So far everything could sound like "Chinese" but there are many applications that make use of this registry and without it they would start to malfunction or do strange things. Now, another thing we have to tell you is that this small detail has only been detected in the Apple installers and the main system installation file, or what is the same, in the complete file that we would use to install OSX El Capitan 10.11.2. right from the start.

However, if what we do is update the system to version 10.11.2. we will not suffer the removal of the directory in question. We will be attentive to see if Apple corrects this small slip since It is not the first time that it occurs in the history of a set of the bitten apple.
