HEVC, the new standard for MacOS High Sierra video

MacOS High Sierra

At last, yesterday Apple released the brand's new Operating System, macOS High Sierra. Along with him, a multitude of novelties (of which we have already talked about many of them) have seen the light and have adapted to the demanding market in which we live today.

One of the most important novelties is, obviously, the image quality in the videos and images, and the processing speed of these in our equipment, as well as the programs used for it. To meet this need, which grows and will grow exponentially in the years to come, Apple has equipped its new OS with the new standard on the market, the HEVC.

HEVC

HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding), also known as H.265, is a high-efficiency video coding standard that has been defined in recent years as the most popular standard, thanks to its characteristics.

Debuting in its first version at the beginning of 2013, this standard has been improved until its final version, and it is the best format to support high-quality videos as well as videos with 3D technology and even, to carry out virtual reality tests, something that should start to gain strength from now on, and that will be enhanced thanks to the inclusion of this format in all compatible Macs.

With 4K video growing in popularity, the new industry standard comes to our Macs. This technology compresses video up to 40% more than the current one H.264 without sacrificing quality. So the videos occupy less on your computer and are really fast to be used in streaming and virtual reality applications.
