iTunes, the game Smurfs (The Smurfs) and parents

smurfs-app

Apple finally reaches an agreement With the parents of the children who made in-app purchases, in the "Smurfs" application, it seems that the money collected by this application came from the children who played the game and bought objects without the consent of the account owner.

The normal thing is that we have a security code so that the little ones in the house cannot make this type of purchase in the applications, but it is clear that if the children learn that security code, we are lost; this time it seems that the application allowed to make the purchase without typing the code, because for the umpteenth time, Apple will respond to what happened.

The problem arose, because this game allowed to perform in-app purchases of some game items in exchange for "real money" without asking for the security code (according to parents), and this has been the problem. As reported by GigaOM, Apple has reached a settlement today for a class action lawsuit filed against it in 2011.

If what is requested is a figure of $ 5, Apple will add this money to the account of the "injured" person, while complaints with higher expenses of more than $ 30, will be paid in cash.

The demand was originally filed against Apple by a Pennsylvania man named Garen Meguerian, whose daughter racked up more than $ 200 in in-app purchases, without his knowledge. Later, more people with this problem filed their lawsuit against Apple.

Under the proposed agreement, those seeking to receive payment from Apple will have to prove their iTunes purchase histories to ensure that the purchases were actually made, and must attest that their children made the purchases without their knowledge and without having the password from the check.

The agreement for now, still pending approval by a federal judge.
