After living a heart attack yesterday afternoon, Apple puts on the table an operating system with many new features as we have been commenting on in the entries of this blog. Now it is the turn to comment on what has happened to the suite of Apple iWork.
We all agree that Apple is already taking time to renew its office suite. It has been in need of a facelift for several years, but so far Apple has only focused on "melting it" into the world of iCloud.
So far, both Pages, Numbers as Keynote They have had an evolution that goes through the launch of versions of them for mobile devices and later to make the leap to the storage of files created with them in the iCloud cloud. Apple yesterday does not give the face lift we expected, but closes the circle by migrating those applications to iCloud, so that now we can create Keynote, Pages or Numbers documents directly from the browser.
This version of iWork will be available at the end of the year and we can use it simply by opening icloud.com from any compatible browser, that is Safari, Chrome and Internet Explorer on both a Mac and a Windows PC. Obviously if we want to edit one already created must be in iCloud. This suite will also be compatible with Microsoft Office documents.
This service is already working since yesterday in BETA phase for developers. Regarding the characteristics of whether it is free or not, if you can work collaboratively or other options, nothing has been reported.
