If you installed OS X El Capitan relatively recently, you will know that certain details that previously allowed carry out a "small maintenance" on the system, such as the utility to repair disk permissions that according to Apple, now it is not necessary to integrate it because the permissions are protected and cannot be modified. However, we always know that there may be situations in which carrying out this and other maintenance processes can be crucial for the overall proper functioning of the system.

Onyx is the name of the well-known software for cleaning and maintenance of OS X and that now reaches version 3.1.2 to become compatible with OS X El Capitan and thus support this type of task. Let's remember that OnyX is one of the best tools for and this and the best of all is that it is totally free. I have been using it for years and it has always been good for me.

Normally we know that we have to carry out the cleaning when certain applications do not run correctly, indicate access or write failures or simply due to a lack of disk space due to excessive accumulation of junk files, what Onix really does is repair the permissions disk and restore certain aspects of the system to their origin like dyld cache or the Spotlight index among others.

In addition, OnyX also allows direct access to various OS X features but they are distributed in such a way that they are not very accessible to say, although to use them we must know what to do if we do not want to complicate the problem further.

Of course there is no doubt that OnyX in general the only thing it provides is a general improvement of the system. You download it from this address and check it out for yourself.

Is Onyx better than TinkerTool? I like the second one because before performing the task, it shows you a detailed report of what it is going to eliminate and gives you the option to continue or not. Onix doesn't tell you anything.
