New version of Edge for macOS based on Chromium already in beta.

Microsoft's browser is coming to macOS

For not long time we have available Microsoft's browser, Edge, available for macOS. Announced in May, the browser now in its new version is in beta. For all those who want to download it now and try the browser.

The official release date is expected to be January 15, 2020, or so it has been said, at Microsoft's Ignite conference. That is why it is necessary that users contribute their impressions from now on.

Edge with Chromium is in beta phase and you can download it now

The offered version is provided as part of the Beta Channel, which is updated every six weeks, but there are also the Dev and Canary channels that provide weekly and daily new builds respectively. This new project will only be available for macOS. Although information can be shared between the desktop browser with the mobile browser.

The big change for Edge is the switch to Chromium. An open source engine that is unique to Google Chrome, as you may have guessed from the name. This innovation would facilitate in theory, that developers can produce new extensions for the browser. You can also generate a more standardized web experience for all users and web developers.

Websites will load and display looking very similar to the Chrome browser, own of Google. In this new version, Microsoft will include a default scheme, to prevent monitoring of our activity. It will be active from the beginning and we will have to be the ones to deactivate it if we do not want this option. Although it would not be a good idea, since with this Edge option, we will avoid the dreaded, phishing, malware and other programs of unknown origin and with little legal intentions.

It will also include an In Private mode, something very similar to the incognito mode that Google Chrome has. Another novelty is more aesthetic than practical. Microsoft will rename the browser icon and change the logo. We will say goodbye to the typical "E" of Edge and welcome an "e" without closing, more like a "c".
