One Drive gets closer to the iCloud philosophy

ONEDRIVE ON MAC

Whenever you leave your hand wide open, what we are going to tell you today ends up happening and that is that Microsoft has had to tighten its belt on users who have accounts in the OneDrive cloud since in some cases the space forecasts have overflowed.

Since Microsoft at the time gave free rein to the imagination and offered unlimited space in OneDrive, certain users came to upload up to XNUMX TB of data, which could cause the total collapse of the servers that the company has in case many users make the same play.

For this reason, now they pay just for sinners and Microsoft has decided to change the space options that will be available in its cloud service. Most shocking of all is that now, overnight is comparable to what Apple began to give in iCloud

The move we are talking about consists of reducing the storage space of Office 365 users and, of course, eliminating the option to access accounts with unlimited space. As we have anticipated, this decision has been the result of the actions of certain users who when they have been shaken hands have taken up to the elbow, in certain cases having accounts in OneDrive with an occupied capacity almost 15000 times higher than the average of the users. We are talking about an impressive amount of information that does see that many make use of Microsoft's cloud space for other purposes.

The modifications that have been imposed are aimed at Office 365 users with Home, Personal and University licenses. Now the account limit is set at 1 TB having also available the sections of 100 GB and 200 GB for users new to the service and a third installment of 50 GB that will arrive in 2016. As for the space available for free, from 2016 they will be like Apple 5 GB.

All users that exceed 1 TB of information in the OneDrive cloud will receive an email telling them that They will have a year of time to be able to move all the extra information to other accounts or services.

It is painful that certain decisions are the most unpopular for not raising them in a coherent way. What were they thinking when they gave away that amount of space, clearly exorbitant? To companies or to everyone in general?
Now it turns out that due to the agony of some brains, those of us who have 15 GB accounts, at a stroke will find themselves reduced to 5 GB (less is nothing). But the question is, why didn't they warn those who have misused the offer? Why are those who have hoarded the cloud not punished? Closing the accounts or deleting information from those accounts would have alleviated the situation.
This is going to scorch Microsoft, because that decision based on the lack of foresight and that will affect a huge number of users, who without wanting or drinking it, will see this decision with anger, unfair and clearly arbitrary.
