How to remove icons from the Finder menu bar

Once again we are going to talk to you about an aspect that it is very possible that more than one of you does not know how to do it. These are the icons that appear at the top right of the desktop. If you are new or new to macOS Sierra, you have to know that the Finder has a menu bar at the top of the desktop in which icons such as WiFi, audio, airplay, notifications, icons of certain installed applications are located and in the new macOS Sierra the Siri icon.

Well, these icons are why I decided to talk about this today. After installing the new macOS Sierra for a friend on their Mac and explain your news high upHe himself tells me that he did not want anything from Siri on his Mac. He wanted to stop seeing both the Dock icon and the one located in the top bar of the Finder. Already our partner Jordi Jiménez spoke to us today on how to remove the Siri icon, but now I'm going to fill in that information a bit, extrapolating the actions to other applications.

With the arrival of macOS Sierra, Siri has arrived on the Mac and what for some was a long-awaited arrival, for others it is one more tool that they do not want to use right now. As you can see, when you install macOS Sierra the system places you, of course, a Siri icon both in the Dock and in the top bar of the Finder. The same happens when you install applications like CleanMyMac, Boom, or in short, applications in which their developers have decided that icons appear in the Finder menu bar.

Well, as I have advanced, my friend does not want those icons on the desktop to which he tells me that he knows that to remove an icon from the Dock, just press it and drag it to the desktop until the word delete appears. However, what I didn't know was how to remove the icons from the top bar of the Finder. For all users who ask this question, the answer is very simple. The first thing we will have to do is to see if in System Preferences there is a section for that tool or utility whose icon appears in the top bar and if so, enter it and verify if there is an option to remove the icon. Indeed, as our colleague Jordi tells us,  if we go into System Preferences and Siri, we will see that it gives us the option to remove the icon, but in other applications it is in the drop-down menu itself that appears in the menu icon itself where we can hide it from the menu bar.

In short, there is no standard procedure that is always followed for hiding the icons on the menu bar and that is that each developer programs their application in a different way. With the passage of time and experience you will get used to looking for how to hide them in one way or another.

Hello. I have a problem since I upgraded my macbook pro to Sierra. An application icon has remained on the top bar and when I place the course on it, the rainbow circle appears and it doesn't let me do anything else. Would you know any way to eliminate it?

    Thank you very much.
