We are going to see some tricks to configure, edit, cancel and why not learn something new from the OS X Mountain Lion notification center. Today we will see three of them and with which we can cancel notifications, add a tip (combination of keys) to access it and eliminate the sound when we receive one, there are more, but for now we will see these three.

One of the advantages is that being synchronized with the iPhone or iPad allows us to see all the notifications that come to us from our Mac, but we can also edit to our liking how we want to see them or simply if we do not want to see them.

The "Notification Center" is one of the novelties of the latest Apple operating system, we can only use it in OS X Mountain Lion and comes directly from iOS. Let's see these simple "tricks" to deactivate or activate the notifications themselves, the sound or add a tip to access it easily.

Stop Notifications

To do this we have to click on the notifications icon that is in the upper right corner with the "alt" key pressed, it will turn gray, which indicates that we already have notifications disabled on our Mac.

If we do not want to disable them completely, that is, what we want is to watch a movie before going to sleep peacefully without receiving any notification that bothers us (for example) we just have to open the notification center and slide our finger down inside it, a button will appear Do not disturb type, by pressing it we will be throughout the day without receiving notifications, the next day they will be activated again without touching anything.

Mute sound

We receive all notifications with a sound, so that it does not bother us if we receive many at the end of the dayWe simply access the System Preferences / Notifications menu and we can deactivate the option "Make a sound when receiving a notification", as simple as this, we can also select in the applications that we do not want to hear the sound.

Add a tip to access from the keyboard

We can always access notifications by pressing directly on the icon, however if we want to access it more quickly We can create a keyboard shortcut (Tip), we access System Preferences / Keyboard / Mission Control and select Show notification center, we assign the combination of keys we want and we have it ready, every time we make such a combination we are will open the notification center.
