It was a matter of time before the new MacBook Pro presented by Apple last October 22 fell into the hands of iFixit, today they show us the insides of this spectacular and renewed MacBook Pro. The main novelty that most users know is undoubtedly the new fourth generation Intel Haswell processor, but these MacBook Pros hide a real feat of engineering in their guts.
As a negative note of these new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro that have arrived at the iFixit workshop, we can highlight that the RAM memory is soldered on the motherboard as in the renewed MacBook Air and launched during the last WWDC. Knowing this important data, it seems that the best option is to study well our situation and use that we can give in the long term and pay a little more to expand our MacBook Pro when we make the purchase in the Apple Store.
Also from iFixit they rate it as practically impossible to repair by users outside of Apple's technical service, and it is that even changing the battery becomes an almost exclusive task of the official technical service because it is not held by screws as in previous versions of the Mac, it is stuck and it is easier for it to break when trying to extract it. Also in reference to the battery, they mention that it is located just above the trackpad cable and when pulling it to change it it is easy for it to end up breaking.
Other data to take into account in addition to those mentioned above for this new MacBook Pro speak of a screen fully attached to the chassis and therefore in the event that we have a fault in it we will have to change the complete set assuming a high price for the repair. A positive point for a future expansion the SSD takes it, which allows an improvement after purchase without many complications, obviously only suitable for the user who dares to make the change without going through the technical service.
Personally speaking, I would not dare to disassemble any Mac either, but it is clear that there are people who are very handy to repair their own devices and this information that iFixit provides comes from pearls.
