To install extensions in Google Chrome for Mac you must do it from the Chrome Web Store

It seems that the work philosophy that Apple has applied for years to its app stores is going to be carried out by other computer giants. As we all know, one of the things that Apple was looking for with the creation of the application stores was to keep its operating systems safe.

Now Google arrives and from July 2015 they will implement a similar service for your browser Google Chrome. From that date on, the only extensions that can be installed in the Google browser may come from the store they are going to launch, the Chrome Web Store.

As we have already indicated, the change for Mac will be made in July, the change being effective for Google Chrome on Windows. From now on, the extensions that users will be able to use in the browser will be controlled a little more, being more controlled the way in which things are pirated or things that are not entirely legal are done, for example.

On the other hand, it will be controlled that extensions of dubious origin can collect data from the computers of users who install Google Chrome. We remind you that the browser Google Chrome was the application that had the most security threats last year.

In principle, we did not enforce this policy on the Windows development channel to give developers the option. Unfortunately, we have since observed malicious software that installs unwanted extensions outside the store for users. Affected users are left with malicious extensions that come from a channel that they did not choose. Therefore, from today we are going to bring this policy to Windows. It's coming to Mac soon, in July 2015.
