BlueMail returns to the Mac App Store as the battle with Apple continues

BlueMail returns to macOS

Looks like this is going to be the week to talk about email apps. We have already told you about the edison problems and the update of a very versatile application, Spike email. Now we bring you good news. The BlueMail email management application is back on the Mac App Store.

This does not mean that the issues that caused your exit from the macOS app store to this app have gone away. In fact the developers of it, they continue their lawsuits with Apple for unfair competition, more precisely for patent infringement.

BlueMail returns and legal problems between its developers and Apple continue

When Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), decided that the macOS BlueMail app could not continue on the Mac App Store, argued security problems. However the developers fought back saying that the real problem was that they were using a feature that Apple was interested in.

Being kicked out of the store was for Apple like having the way open and clear to introduce new functionality. The login anonymous via Apple. You know, the functionality by which we can register on certain websites through Apple without actually showing our real data.

The developers of BlueMail argued that this functionality was what they wanted to implement for their application and that Apple wanted a clear path to present its option. In this way, a lawsuit was filed against the American company by brothers Dan and Ben Volach (founders of the Blix company responsible for BlueMail).

Now that Apple's functionality is in place and working properly, the green light has been given for the email application to return to the store. That at least is what those responsible for the application allege, because Apple states that it has returned once the security issues have been resolved.

Apple is justified as to why it has allowed the application to return to the Mac App Store

Apple said in a statement:

The Blix Mail app is currently available on the iOS App Store and have a new app available on the Mac App Store. We have offered our help to developers on multiple occasions to bring the application back to the Mac App Store. They have refused our help. The App Store has a set of uniform and equal guidelines for all applications and developers, in order to protect users. Blix proposes to override basic data security protections that can expose users' computers to malware that can damage their Macs and threaten their privacy.

However BlueMail developers claim this is not true and that the only excuse was to have taken advantage of their work in order to have a functionality equal to the one they already had implemented in their application.

The news is not the possible patent infringement by Apple regarding the use of new ideas in software. The American company has been in court for a long time defending itself from the multiple lawsuits against it. Sometimes justice rules in your favor and in others it is condemned.

The news that should be highlighted is the return of a very good application to manage email on our Macs. BlueMail stands out for having an integrated calendar but above all for the way in which the received emails are organized. We can configure the inbox by people or by groups, something very useful, without a doubt.

Especially good news for users, who can enjoy this application again. Also for developers, because we remember that although Apple is a great company it is not infallible and if the accusations against her are true, these practices can be stopped.
